What this course actually is

Most “learn Python” pages stay vague. Here is the concrete version. PyStart has 12 lessons. Each one covers one idea: printing text, variables, numbers vs text, if/else, for loops, lists, functions, input, while loops, a few built-in tools, dictionaries, then a small quiz game that uses those pieces together.

You do not watch a teacher click around for 40 minutes. You get a short explanation, an example, common mistakes, and four typed exercises with a checker. The last lesson is not a certificate speech — it is a program you can change: more questions, hints, a score that goes up when the answer is right.

The 12 lessons

Each lesson is one topic. You can stop after any of them and still have something you can run.

   What Python is, how print works, and why quotes and capitals matter.

   Variables

   Give a value a name, then update a score the way games and totals do.

   Numbers and text

   Multiply prices, and put a name into a sentence with an f-string.

   Making choices

   If/else, pass marks, and the difference between = and ==.

5. 05
   Repeating work

   For loops and range, so you stop copying the same line five times.

   Lists

   Keep items in order, start counting at 0, add something with append.

   Functions

   Name a block of steps, call it, and see when to return instead of print.

   User input

   Ask a question. Convert text to a number before you add 1 to someone’s age.

   While loops

   Repeat while a condition is true, and how not to write an infinite loop.

    Useful built-ins

    len, random, and importing a module instead of inventing everything.

    Dictionaries

    Store a player’s name and score under keys you can read later.

    Final project: quiz game

    Score, a question, a check, a point. Then add your own questions.

How a lesson works

1. Read the idea. One topic, in plain language, with a small example.
2. Type the line. The editor is in the page. You do not install Python first.
3. Use the checker. If the line is wrong, you try again. There is a model answer if you get stuck.
4. Stretch if you want. Each lesson has a common mistake and an extra challenge. Skip them if you are tired.
